Heart Doily

my heart is a doily
on valentine's day
a first grader cut me out today
he snipped at my lace
and threw away my core
mutilated me until there was no more
got a new one
colored it red
forgetting he left me in the trashcan, dead
the teacher said clean up
he glued my replacement down
my pieces formed to a sad, sad frown
he did not hear her
he did not care
i guess even for a destroyed doily, life's not fair
now that i've wept
i lay here still

good news, yo.
i finished that confounded prose piece that i've been working on for 3 months. its not a short story that's 6 pages long or so. i'm still waiting for some feedback from some friends who have to read it, though. i'm looking for constructive critisism before i post it here. hasta.
